Four Ideas to Improve Business Intelligence and Analytics

deepmind a i news

We are constantly being surrounded by new technologies as we look to the future. These technologies include data science and cloud analytics, business intelligence (BI) as well data science. Here are four ideas that are changing the ways businesses use these technology. Let's start by taking a look at the various types of analytics solutions that are available today. What do they mean for your business? What do they mean for your business? And how can you pick the best one for you?

Analytics

Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence identifies key vendors in this area. TIBCO, for instance, is a leader in the field with strong presence in high-tech manufacturing as well as the life sciences and health care sectors. While it has less momentum outside of its installed base, TIBCO is an innovator with a vision of convergence in the data market. Gartner's Magic Quadrants in BI award it high marks.

BI

Gartner Business Intelligence's annual report this year highlights the best vendors in the industry. BI is used to monitor and manage flight capacity, hotel occupancy rates, set prices and schedule workers. BI is used by health care professionals to diagnose and treat illness. Schools and universities also use it to track student performance and identify students who require extra assistance. But BI can be used in more ways than you may think.

Data science

Data scientists are essential assets for organizations that want to understand the value information assets. This role requires a wide range of skills, so it might be more beneficial to work in a team. Although the role as a data scientist involves collaboration with business stakeholders it also requires analytical and decision making skills to identify patterns and relationships within data. You will also need data management skills to create relevant data.

Cloud data analytics

The Gartner cloud data analytics for business intelligence report highlights the importance of advanced analytics, synergy, and data science for businesses. The report explores how cloud-based analysis can help improve the ability of an organization to use analytics throughout its entire organization. It provides key insights on how to maximize the cloud's benefits and minimize its costs, while ensuring that the business is fully maximizing its data quality.

Visual analytics

Businesses are increasingly turning to visual analytics as a way to improve ROI and make better data-driven decisions. Visual analytics helps business leaders find patterns and trends among data sources in order to generate actionable insight. The modern interactive visual analytics allows users combine data from multiple sources to analyze the data within their visualization. Advanced technologies like AI, machine learning algorithms and machine intelligence can also be used to make recommendations and suggest actions. If implemented correctly, visual analytics can have a significant impact on an organization.

Self-service

Self-service BI can help your business users gain the insight they need to move the business forward. Self-service BI should be able to share data and tools for call-to–actions and text analytics with external parties, such as clients and business partners. Self-service BI can speed up the process for users and also provide data governance support.

Data warehouses

The term "data warehouse" is used to describe a storage architecture that can contain data extracted from operational data stores, transaction systems, and other external sources. These data are then assembled into an aggregate form for enterprise-wide business analysis and reporting. Analysts at Gartner refer to data warehouses as "big data" and "analytics platform" often. While they serve different purposes each structure has some similarities.

Data lakes

In Gartner's Data Lakes for Business Intelligence report, you'll learn about the latest trend for storing and processing organisation-wide data. These data lakes don't usually have any structure or governance and can include any unstructured information such as videos, documents and other types of information. The data in a data lake is used for analytics and reporting purposes. The next step is to transform this data into the form the organization needs.

FAQ

What can AI be used for today?

Artificial intelligence (AI), which is also known as natural language processing, artificial agents, neural networks, expert system, etc., is an umbrella term. It's also called smart machines.

Alan Turing wrote the first computer programs in 1950. His interest was in computers' ability to think. He proposed an artificial intelligence test in his paper, "Computing Machinery and Intelligence." The test asks if a computer program can carry on a conversation with a human.

John McCarthy, in 1956, introduced artificial intelligence. In his article "Artificial Intelligence", he coined the expression "artificial Intelligence".

There are many AI-based technologies available today. Some are easy to use and others more complicated. These include voice recognition software and self-driving cars.

There are two types of AI, rule-based or statistical. Rule-based uses logic to make decisions. To calculate a bank account balance, one could use rules such that if there are $10 or more, withdraw $5, and if not, deposit $1. Statistics is the use of statistics to make decisions. A weather forecast may look at historical data in order predict the future.

How does AI function?

An artificial neural network is composed of simple processors known as neurons. Each neuron receives inputs and then processes them using mathematical operations.

Neurons can be arranged in layers. Each layer performs an entirely different function. The first layer receives raw data like sounds, images, etc. These are then passed on to the next layer which further processes them. Finally, the last layer produces an output.

Each neuron also has a weighting number. This value is multiplied when new input arrives and added to all other values. If the result is greater than zero, then the neuron fires. It sends a signal up the line, telling the next Neuron what to do.

This continues until the network's end, when the final results are achieved.

Are there any AI-related risks?

Yes. They will always be. AI is seen as a threat to society. Others argue that AI is necessary and beneficial to improve the quality life.

AI's potential misuse is one of the main concerns. AI could become dangerous if it becomes too powerful. This includes robot dictators and autonomous weapons.

Another risk is that AI could replace jobs. Many people worry that robots may replace workers. But others think that artificial intelligence could free up workers to focus on other aspects of their job.

For instance, economists have predicted that automation could increase productivity as well as reduce unemployment.

Who is the leader in AI today?

Artificial Intelligence (AI), is a field of computer science that seeks to create intelligent machines capable in performing tasks that would normally require human intelligence. These include speech recognition, translations, visual perception, reasoning and learning.

Today, there are many different types of artificial intelligence technologies, including machine learning, neural networks, expert systems, evolutionary computing, genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic, rule-based systems, case-based reasoning, knowledge representation and ontology engineering, and agent technology.

The question of whether AI can truly comprehend human thinking has been the subject of much debate. Deep learning has made it possible for programs to perform certain tasks well, thanks to recent advances.

Today, Google's DeepMind unit is one of the world's largest developers of AI software. Demis Hashibis, the former head at University College London's neuroscience department, established it in 2010. DeepMind developed AlphaGo in 2014 to allow professional players to play Go.

Statistics

  • According to the company's website, more than 800 financial firms use AlphaSense, including some Fortune 500 corporations. (builtin.com)
  • That's as many of us that have been in that AI space would say, it's about 70 or 80 percent of the work. (finra.org)
  • More than 70 percent of users claim they book trips on their phones, review travel tips, and research local landmarks and restaurants. (builtin.com)
  • Additionally, keeping in mind the current crisis, the AI is designed in a manner where it reduces the carbon footprint by 20-40%. (analyticsinsight.net)
  • In the first half of 2017, the company discovered and banned 300,000 terrorist-linked accounts, 95 percent of which were found by non-human, artificially intelligent machines. (builtin.com)
